Local History Nights
Over the past several years, I have conducted Wednesday night history sessions at the Miners’ Bay Church, in an attempt to draw attention to the importance of values, personalities, and events that have shaped our local, and national history.
This year, I am moving in a slightly different direction. I have been encouraged over the past few months, to start recording some of the events of my life which have been either unusual or significant. Consequently, this summer’s series will attempt to integrate several themes.
We will continue to look at the importance of local history, as well as examine various events and time periods from the past. When appropriate, to provide context and personal experience, my own involvement will be included. Each session will have a general theme, which may, or may not, be specifically connected to Miners’ Bay and Gull Lake.
All sessions will also include a selection of stories and vignettes of the local area which have not been presented in the past. Each week will be a stand-alone presentation. The Air Conditioning will be on, and complimentary cold drinks provided. All are welcome!
